2007-2013 Cohesion Policy in the European Union
The European Union is one of the richest areas in the world, but amongst its internal regions there are considerable disparities in terms of income and opportunities.
The disparities between European regions have been widened after the recent enlargements.
The European Regional Policy favors reducing the structural differences between the regions of the Union, the balanced development of the Community and a real equality of opportunities amongst people.
